GEN 1.3   ENTRY, TRANSIT AND DEPARTURE OF PASSENGERS AND CREW

1   Customs requirements

1.1  All arriving travelers(including crew members) must complete and sign the Republic of Korea Customs Declaration and present it to customs officer. In this case, they may be asked and/or inspected by the Customs Officer to verify the information provided.

2   Immigration requirements

2.1  Entry Requirements
  1. Any foreigner desiring to enter the Republic of Korea must hold a valid passport satisfactorily establishing identity and nationality or citizenship and a valid visa issued by the Minister of Justice; except nation of the state under visa Waiver Agreement with the Republic of Korea.

  2. Any foreigner desiring to enter the Republic of Korea is required to offer the standard Entry card to the immigration officer at the airport of entry.

  3. Nationals of the countries designated by the Minister of Justice are admitted to enter the Republic of Korea without a visa within the scope of 30 days, in case that they want to visit Korea for pleasure or transit.

2.2  Departure Requirements
  1. Any foreigner desiring to depart the Republic of Korea must hold a valid passport satisfactorily establishing identity and nationality or citizenship and depart prior to the expiration of his or her authorized period of stay.

  2. Any foreigner entering within the visa of status C-3 is required to leave the Republic of Korea within the granted period of stay without any permission. However anyone wishing to stay longer may apply for an extension of period within 90 days from the date of arrival.

  3. A registered foreigner desiring to return to the Republic of Korea within one year from the day of departure(within two years for permanent residents) shall be exempted from re-entry permit, except the foreigners who are prohibited from entering the Republic of Korea by the Korea immigration law.

3   The Quarantine Inspection

3.1  All carriers (flights, ships, trains and automobiles), passengers and/or cargoes arriving at the Republic of Korea shall be subject to a sanitary inspection, and cannot be discharged from the carrier until the quarantine inspection is completed.
  1. The commander of a carrier destined for the Republic of Korea shall report immediately to the director of the nearest quarantine station at which the carrier will arrive, the occurrence of any ill persons among passengers or crew members, and the sanitary conditions.

  2. All travelers (including crew members) entering into the Republic of Korea from contaminated area of quarantinable communicable diseases must submit the Health Questionnaire. Incase of a carrier departing from an unaffected county of communicable diseases, the commander can apply for the electronic quarantine.

  3. Any Travelers (including crew members) having symptoms such as diarrhea, vomit, abdominal pains, fever, cough, respiratory symptoms and/or shortness of breath shall report to the nearest National Quarantine Station. If symptoms appear after arriving home, the traveler shall report to a public health center.

  4. Under article 12 and 39 of the Quarantine Act, noncompliance or false reporting regarding the Health Questionnaire shall be subject to a punishment of up to 1 year in prison or a fine of up to 10 million Korean Won.

  5. National Quarantine Stations vaccinate against yellow fever and cholera and issue their certificates.
