SUMMARY Units of Measurement

Distance used in navigation, position reporting, etc.- generally in excess of 2 NM

Nautical Miles and tenths(NM)

Relatively short distances such as those relating to aerodrome(e.g. runway lengths)

Metres(M) or Feet(FT)

Altitudes, elevations and heights

Metres(M) or Feet(FT)

Horizontal speed including wind speed

Knots(KT), Mach or km/h

Vertical speed

Feet per minutes

Wind direction for landing and taking off

Degrees Magnetic

Wind direction except landing and taking off

Degrees True

2   Temporal reference system

2.1 Coordinated Universal Time(UTC) is used by air navigation services and in publications issued by the Aeronautical Information Service. The Korea Standard Time(KST) is UTC plus 9HR.

3   Horizontal reference system

3.1  All published geographical coordinates indicating latitude and longitude are expressed in terms of the World Geodetic System-1984(WGS-84) geodetic reference datum
3.2  Lambert Conformal Conic Projection is used.
3.3  Area of application is Incheon FIR.
3.4  Geographical coordinates which have been transformed into WGS-84 coordinates but whose accuracy of original field work does not meet the requirements in Annex 11, Chapter 2, and Annex 14, Volumes I and II, Chapter 2, shall be identified by an asterisk(*).

4   Vertical reference system

4.1  Mean sea level datum (MSL) is used as the vertical reference system. When using above ground level(AGL), it will be notified obviously.

5   Aircraft nationality and registration marks

5.1 The nationality mark for aircraft registered in Republic of Korea is the two letters "HL". The nationality mark is followed by a registration mark consisting of 4 Arabic figures, e.g, HL1234.
