AD 1  AERODROME - INTRODUCTION

AD 1.1   AERODROME - INTRODUCTION

1   AERODROME AVAILABILITY AND CONDTIONS OF USE

1.1

General conditions

1.2

This section contains information on major aerodromes which are available for the use of international and domestic aircraft operations. AD 2 comprise a detailed description of the physical characteristics of aerodromes.

1.3

Applicable ICAO documents

ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices contained in the ANNEX 14 are applied to the maximum extent possible.

  1. ANNEX 14 - Aerodromes Volume I & II

  2. DOC 9157 - Aerodrome Design Manual(Part 1 to 6)

  3. DOC 9137 - Airport Services Manual(Part 1 to 9)

2

Use of military air bases

Civil Aircraft operator must attain prior approval from ROK MND(Ministry of national defense) in accordance with the ‘Agreement for use of aerodromes between ROK MND and ROK MOLIT’, in order to operate on MIL aerodromes. Prior approval is not necessary in the event of an emergency.

Usable MIL aerodromes for civil aircraft are RKJJ, RKPS, RKPK, RKNW, RKTN, RKTY, RKTU, RKNN, RKTH, RKND and RKJM.

3

Low visibility procedures (LVP)

3.1

Low Visibility Procedures applicable to CAT II/III operations at aerodromes are established for operation in a visibility of less than RVR 550m or a cloud ceiling of less than 60m(200 ft).

3.2

4

Aerodrome operating minima

4.1

Aerodrome has established the landing and take off weather minimum.

4.2

See AD 2.22 under the particular AD section for take off weather minimum and instrument approach charts for landing minimum.

Overload aircraft operations

5.1.1

The detailed criteria on overload aircraft operations

  1. The range of overload aircraft operations should be the bounds of ACN, which is within 10%(Flexible Pavement), 5%(Rigid Pavement) of PCN.

  2. The annual number of overload aircraft operations should not exceed 5% of the total annual aircraft movements and should disperse throughout a year.

  3. Overload aircraft operations should be avoided following periods.

    • - Thaw season : 3.1 ~ 5.31

    • - Rainy season : 6.1 ~ 8.31

  4. If a sign of problem is found such as crack, breakage, or sinking of pavement due to the overload aircraft operations, the overload aircraft operations should not be reimposed until appropriate pavement strengthening work has been completed.

  5. Despite above criteria, overload aircraft operations in excess of the range should be only carried out in an emergency.
